OK, so this post doesn’t really have much to do with motherhood, but I’m going to tell you about it anyway. My new best friend is the SanDisk MobileMate SD+ USB memory card reader. I love this thing. It’s making my life so much easier.
It’s works like your traditional memory card reader, except it fits in your purse or your pocket and doesn’t have a cable. I can take this baby anywhere and plug it in — in a second. No more long, tangled cables to hook up to my camera and computer. No more bulky memory card reader taking up space on my desk.
The reader has the micro and mini SDHC memory card slots so you have two options based on your camera equipment. Certainly a way to make a moms life easier: small size, bit rewards. Just don’t tell my husband — I stole it from him!

Every night the Olympics are on and we see athletes compete for the gold. Swimming, gymnastics, archery, even curling (winter) is an Olympic sport. I think I’m going to talk to the Olympic committee and recommend some mom-related sports I’d like to see added to the next Olympics:
- Best meal preparation based on having nothing in the refrigerator or cubbards. (Man, I need to get to the store.)
- Best napper. Which mom can crash the easiest and longest after a full day on the job.
- Most efficient carpooler.
- Best soccer mom.
- Best reader of a children’s book — without looking at the book. (You know you can recite the words to “Good Night Moon” without looking at the book. )
- Fastest make-up putter-oner.
- One handed sippy-cup picker-upper while driving. (OK, Michael Phelps might still win this event given the wing span of his arms, but moms have this one down pat!)
So, it’s a long shot, but moms perform Olympic feats every day. Give yourself a gold medal today!

What’s the best way to keep your family in clean clothes? I haven’t figured this out yet. It’s a quandary that I have been trying to figure out for a long, long time. My husband and I are both to blame. We hate doing laundry. I don’t have a problem washing, but folding and I just don’t dance together.
Today, I came across a blog that has several tips on how to solve your household’s laundry problems. She’s got photos of a few different laundry rooms for inspiration too. Take a read, you might find a tip that helps you conquer the laundry quandary in your home. Here’s the link: Complete Organizing Solutions: Laundry Links.

My husband took my son to one of those bounce house places where kids run around and go on big slides and jump up and down in larger-than-life jumpy things. Parents usually stay outside the bounce houses, as my husband did. He was standing up next to the netting, watching my son inside. Then, a child (about 5 years old) jumped over to him, sticking his face right up to the netting, stared my husband in the face. That’s when the kid said this,
“Hellooooo, Idiot!”
What do you do with that?

Once every 100 years the dates allign. Today is one of those days: 8-8-8. It also happens to be my birthday. Happy Birthday to me. Tonight, in celebration, we’re having a New Year’s Eve-inspired activity — we’ll be sounding off noise makers and lighting sparklers. I have a couple of friends coming over with small kids so I think they will love this activity.
The Olympics start this evening too and it’s a great way to get inspired. What I love most about Olympians is how good they are at what they do. Although I’ll never win an Olympic medal, I hope to be just as good at one thing as Olympians are at their sports.
So, tonight at 8:00 celebrate you. Do something fun, even if it’s not planned right now. As I’m lighting the sparklers I’ll be dreaming Olympic-sized dreams for myself and my family.
