Watching the news last night the update on the California mother who just had 8 babies also has — wait for it — 6 other children. Yes, math wizards, that’s 14 kids. She’s almost hitting the Duggar 18. Slight difference between this new mom and the Duggar mother … she’s a single mother living with her parents.
I’m never one to tell anyone how many kids they think they should have, but this case does raise several questions. ABC News talked this morning about the ethics of a fertility doctor who would implant 8 embryos.
Medical Contributor Tim Johnson of ABC News says:
[Experts] would be astounded if a fertility specialist actually implanted eight eggs,” ABC News medical contributor Dr. Tim Johnson said. “Current guidelines, which are guidelines, not law, would suggest between one and four. … A vast majority of experts would say that [implanting eight] is bad practice.”
The ABC News story says that, according to the grandmother, her daughter had in vitro and decided later that she couldn’t opt for natural selection.
The octuplets’ grandmother Angela Suleman told The Los Angeles Times that her daughter had a fertility treatment last year in which the eight embryos were implanted … “
This story is surely bound to raise more questions from a variety of people. The family was shown on TV asking for privacy.

She should be charged with child abuse! If the family wants privacy, they shouldn’t be asking for public support for their stupidity!
How did she get the money to have all of these procedures done in the first place… And with such a bad back wouldn’t pregnancy be difficult and probably worse with each kid. Absolutely ridiculous!!!!!
AT LEAST SHE WANTS HER KIDS NOT LIKE THOSE MOTHERS THAT ONLY HAVE ONE AND THINK THAT THEY CAN’T HANDLE IT AND THROUGH THEM IN THE TRASH THOSE ARE THE MOTHER THAT YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED NOT HER!!! SHE IS CALLED A MOTHER NOT THE ONES THAT KILL THERE BABIES OR PUT THEM IN TRASAH CANS!!!
She needs to be spay and the Dr. who did this should have to support all those children. What in the world is wrong with people…ugh…
I think its disgusting, 6 kids already at home, how in the hell does she even afford her get her nails done? she did it for the money, and thats ignorant!!! poor children!

Seeing the challenges that these children have in normal everyday life situation, who in the RIGHT mind would want to take the chance with 8 more children.
She already has three children on disability two with autism….. (duh..that is ENOUGH to keep her busy raising just these two for the REST of their lives!!!!) Why would she take the risk of having another child with autism much less the risk with EIGHT! They do NOT know why some children are born autistic but she ALREADY knows that her children are at HIGH risk….
This is child neglect in my opinion. she already had a lifetime commitment to these two children that she could not financial take care of, and it seems apparent to me that she has a mental instability also!
(and by the way she is disabled from a supposed back injury, I would have thought just a single child pregnancy would be extremely difficult for her much less eight!)
I am waiting to see the disabilities that some if not ALL of these eight babies will have!
If she did this for the money she should have all of her children removed and find a family that will put the children’s needs into consideration!!!!
Like it or not this is MY opinion! She said she is just a mother and she wanted children… I DON”T consider her a mother she is an incubator.
Once upon a time I remember Welfare putting forth a rule that if you have more children while already on welfare you will not recieve more benefits. This was suppose to keep people from having more children just to get the benefits. What happen to this??????????

I think this is terrible..This woman said they are tired of the media, what did she expect. Come on, she has 6 kids, all small and then has 8 more. She dont ‘deserve them. Us taxpayers are paying for them kids and will for a long time..did she not realize how many of them children will have handicaps. She already has three on SSI, what more does she want. So many ppl have to fight for this when they shouldnt’ have to. They aren’t originally from the US according to her father, he was going overseas to work. Why should her parents have to pay for her 14 children. That is just crazy. And like one other said, how did she afford to have this procedure, let alone that many embryos implanted. I think she was hoping to get alot out of this..what next, someone gonna feel sorry and get them a house. This just isnt’ right..Some of us have to struggle to survive. The she says she says she has been trying to get pregnant for 7 years and wasnt’ able too. Well, where did the other 6 kids come from. And she admitted she had this procedure done over 100 times..that is alot of money. I think she was hoping to get alot out of this..what next, someone gonna feel sorry and get them a house. It is so funny when she says that: I will be holding them all the time and not all parents do” and right after she says that she will go back to school and work to support them. I just would like to know how. I’m a single mother of only one child and work full-time, receiving child support and I’m struggling to pay all the bills and have extra for us financially and emotionally. Unless she has extra-power I don’t see her being that wonderful mother that she says she will be and provide for her family. And she says that she had a dysfunctional family, her parents and herself? What is this that she is doing, get pregnant of 14 kids? Another thing that is confuse is that how funny that she says that on all her pregnancies she had 6 ovules and this is the first time that all of them succeed? Even when she was younger only one baby was born, she had only one case of twins. For me it is all insane she and the doctor should be sued.
America seize to amaze me, this mom is an American citizen, so she made a mistake, these babies are here in this world now, and these children need help from our American government, regardless rather she refuses their help or not, they should give it to her any way!
America have millions of anchor babies born every year to illegal immigrants who come here and make sure their children are born American citizens, just for the sake of getting a free tokens, tickets, anchors to keep their feet in our American soil, and get as much of our government freebies as they can. they are allow to just have as many children as they want born in America, and no one is saying a DARN THING ABOUT THIS!
Our birthright laws are open wide to them as soon as the get across the borders, and are suddenly in labor, and get to the nearest hospital, and they do not pay their hospital bill we do,
their babies born here are pay with our American tax dollars! in reality they do not belong here, their children don,t either. I would rather my tax dollars take care of poor American citizens!!
Illegal immigrants are allow in America to use their children for anything that they want in America, America has a wide open American making baby factory for them!! this is their sneaky way of helping their race to become the over populated race at a very fast pace! also a way to help them conquer America.after all, millions of them think that America belongs to them, no one has since to stop them. If any American citizen is thought of having children for the reason of getting a helping hand from their American government it’s another story!!!
Therefore why talk about this woman, especially since all of media people do not want to talk about all the ANCHOR BABIES THAT WE TAKE CARE OF!! MILLIONS OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AND ALL THEIR MILLIONS OF ANCHOR BABIES ARE TAKING AMERICA BY SURPRISE! America has and are becoming more doom because of this. ALL OF THIS IS A BIG HUSH! HUSH! And no one wants to talk about this, and they are not allow to talk about this, because they don’t want to hurt illegal immigrants and their children feelings, so why hurt this woman feelings, she has done nothing wrong, when you think about what illegal immigrants do to America everyday, also just because their babies are granted an automatic American citizenship here, they suddenly are first in line to our low income housing, sec. 8 programs!
I feel for this woman the media is making a nervous wreak out of her, she knows millions of people are just waiting for her to h to make a mistake, to just fall on her face, just so that they can make up an excuse to take those babies a way from her. All she needs is help just like illegal immigrants, She is properly to the point that she can’t trust any one. She needs all the Help from our American government also, America gives help to millions illegal immigrants and their children why not her???
I hate to sound racist, because i am not, i am just so sick of how suddenly American laws has become so double standard when it comes to illegal immigration in America! how they could just come here and have their babies born her on their illegal status, and their babies are just granted a automatic citizenship just like that, this doesn’t make any since. And while this mom is talked about like a dog, illegal immigrants as i speak are having babies born here in America for their own personal purposes!! They know exactly what they are doing, they seemed to be much smarter then our American politicians, because they certainly now how to get all the attention and compassion from our American law makers, (politicians) to the point where our President, and congress have allow to much compassion for illegal immigrants in America get in the way of our American laws!!
