In Bloom

Two months ago I was walking around in my back yard and wandered behind the dark, scary shed. It’s a place you don’t want to go normally. It’s dark, covered by trees, and I fear a snake will slither out. On this day, I wandered back, who knows why, but I stumbled upon an old Christmas cactus. It wasn’t in bloom. Hadn’t been watered in I don’t know how long, and was totally forgotten and neglected.

I quickly grabbed the plant and put it on the front porch. Front and center. Christmas cactus’ aren’t pretty when they aren’t in bloom. But when they do …

They are a sight to behold.

Just look at the color. It’s amazing.

So bright.

So cheerful. The plant is still blooming, but I think it’s about to go dormant until Christmas-time again. It’s a long wait, but well worth it.
