Yesterday I took breakfast in bed for my husband: omelet, sausage, banana bread and a cup of coffee. Sounds pretty nice, right?
Well, how does this sound? Yesterday I took breakfast in bed to my husband: a two-egg cheddar cheese omelet, honey-smoked sausage links, homemade banana bread and a steaming cup of Columbian coffee with vanilla-flavored creamer. Oh, yes, that sounds MUCH better. And, it’s all true.
With a little effort we can make all things sound so much nicer. It works in reverse to: Sometimes we tend to be jealous of other’s accomplishments.
It’s like those Lean Cuisine commercials: For dinner last night I had oven roasted chicken with steamed vegetables and a lemon butter sauce.
Reality: She ate a frozen dinner!
The next time you find yourself jealous of someone else, simplify what they are saying to determine if it, in reality, is what you are wanting. Or, is it just clever words making something simple sound so much better?

Today, I’ll just leave you with a photo that I found on Flickr. It’s titled “Wooden Moms.” In this case it seems pretty literal — those old fashioned, now vintage, Fisher Price Little People. But “wooden moms” can really mean so many things.
These wooden moms are identical, but when you really look they are all slightly different. Some more worn than others. Hair still up, wearing the mom uniform … and a smile. They have all endured through the years. We too, will persevere the challenges that motherhood throws us so as not to become some “wooden mom.”

Is there any such thing as life after motherhood? I think not. Someone found BalancingMotherhood.com by searching for that phrase. I don’t think there is a possibility of an “after motherhood” scenario. Even when your children grow up and leave the house, you are still always a mother. Later in life you’ll be a grandmother.
Women are forever changed after the birth or adoption of a child. We can’t hit the back button and unchange that fact. It’s life. It’s glorious. I say, “Once a mother, always a mother.“

“It’s a good thing if you find a leak.
It’s a bad thing if a leak finds you.”
This wise wisdom is from a coworker (thanks Josh) who was stationed on a submarine in a previous career.
This saying can so easily be applied to real life by just saying, “be proactive.” Easier said than done, but good advice none the less.

Here’s another installment of how people find this blog. I find it interesting the keywords people use to find me.
- “How to deal with motherhood” — It’s all about the balance. Balance.
- “Hate Thomas Tank Engine” — probably in reference to my post about how Thomas The Tank Engine Is Ruining My Night.
- “Popular Mom blogs” — thanks!
- “Balancing kids and housework” — this is a tough one. If you can afford it, hire someone to clean up for you. If not, then find a routine that works for you, but in the end leave those dishes in the sink if you really need some down time.
- “Car cake” — I’m so proud of the car cake I did for my son’s second birthday.
- “Leg cast, infants” — I guess there are a lot of moms out there whose kids have broken legs.
- What to do if a child eats a Lego? — Call the Dr.!
