More Time

There is never enough time in the day. Truly. Every mother knows this. I feel I am living this like never before. My days are packed. Jam packed. I go from work to school many days; no break in between. On these long days, I don’t see my kids except for the short time in the morning as we are all getting ready.

Most days I don’t have the luxury of staying late at work. Even if I really need to stay, I have to politely excuse myself from meetings so that I can run out the door and fight traffic to get to my children’s school for pick up. Minutes can make the difference of getting there on time or being late. It’s a constant struggle for all working parents. I feel for people who work at jobs that do not offer any flexibility when it comes to balancing work and family life. Doctors appointments, school plays, teacher conferences, they all take time. With flexible schedules, parents can find the right mix of being at the office, important family activities and still be a productive employee.
